Broken CEO's Chair
Photo Of The Week
A few weeks ago I was walking near Union Square in NYC and came across this chair that reads "Broken CEO's Chair". I would say that this photograph surely represents the tumultuous economic times we are going through. Do you agree?

Peace Out
Photo Of The Week
I was walking along Park Avenue in NYC last night and came across this ornate dresser, on the curb of the sidewalk, that immediately caught my attention. If you look towards the bottom of the dresser you will read the Discreet Message that I identified. =)

The other day I was walking by an "old school" telephone booth in NYC by Union Square and came across the message above. It's a scary world we are living in right now! I hope he will be able to work some serious magic!!!!

Peace N' Love
Photo Of The Week
Some time ago I was in the Bowery in NYC on a nice summer afternoon. I came across this Loving Discreet Message and it took me some time to post because I haven't felt that we were headed in the direction of Peace N' Love. Today is election day and I am hoping that Mr. Obama will be our next president. If that happens, I am pretty sure our country will be heading towards Peace N' Love once again.

I was in Soho the other night with a few friends. On the way to the Angelika Theatre I discovered this Loving Discreet Message on Houston Street between Lafayette and Broadway. I was so excited! I thought this was a very clever way for a man or a woman to express themself.

Love In The Fields Of High Falls, NY
Photo Of The Week
Last weekend some of my friends and I went to High Falls, NY for a friends wedding. While driving through the countryside I noticed these bushes that were in the form of hearts. I immediately pulled over, ran across the street and captured these beauteous bushes in my camera. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. Love is in the air!!! =)

Respect Women
Photo Of The Week
Last week I was walking on 3rd Avenue and 14th Street in NYC and came across this ad that stated "Eat your vegetables, Finish your homework, Respect women". Wow! I thought this was a powerful message!! Not only did I see that but while I was on the Metro-North train to Westchester a few days ago I overheard a man say to his wife, while writing a birthday card to one of his family members, "now honey do I write Regards, Bill or Best, Bill?" She turned around to him and said, "the card is for a member of your family, write Love, Bill!" I laughed. Most men really do need women to guide them through life. In regards to the street advertisement, it is nice to see that some people are recognizing women's efforts. =)

Why are professional photographers so expensive?
Many folks ask me, "why do photographers charge so much to press a button on a camera and produce an image?" The link above gives a perfect explanation. Check it out.

Love Is Free?
Last week I was running around Chelsea prepping for a photo shoot. While running errands I came across another Discreet Message that immediately caught my attention. Someone wrote "Love Is Free". I shot it with my camera, thought about the message, smiled and then asked myself, "is love really free?"
Love is my favorite emotion, I love my family and friends a lot; however, I had to earn that love from them as they did from me. My point being, I don't think love is free.

Photographs in NYC and Abroad
I am a photographer, based in NYC, who has a background in Graphic Design and Art Direction. Since my photo websites have very little copy on them, I thought to post some information on my photo business and share some of my images, hopefully on a weekly basis, with you via a blog.
I started my photo career in 2006 as a fine print photographer and since then I have had eight exhibitions in NYC. If you care to see my fine print site, a link is posted to the right side of this blog under my email subscription option. To get the gist of my fine print photo concept, I'd like to suggest reading my artist statement first.
I also focus on still-life, event and portrait photography. Links to those websites are on the right side of this page as well.
Comments or questions are welcome. Thank you for your time.
Cheers,
Helena de Vengoechea
