Today I read Rob Haggart's (the former Director of Photography for Men's Journal and Outside Magazine) post on his blog aphotoeditor.com about How photographers ACTUALLY spend their time (if you click on the image above you will see a larger version of the graph so it is easier to read). 

I wish everyone would see this chart.
 Just because we are photographers doesn't mean that we spend all our time being creative. 

According to the chart above (on the right side) our creative process only involves 12% of our time taking pictures + 28% of the time in post production.
We have to run a business too which includes accounting, marketing, advertising, networking, prepping + attending client meetings etc. Time is money. In order for us to create for you we need to charge accordingly. I hope this chart will help you understand our business procedure better.
